As the previous journal states, I have been left in control of this group. Even though temporary, I consider this an honor since this is the highest level of authority I've obtained so far. But with this position comes a new burden, getting things off the ground and having people work together in something that resembles a grassroots movement.
So let me tell you what we are all about. This is not some place just to hang out, this is a place to actually make things happen. We're about never stopping until the job is really done. It's a fight or die situation. We are people who have seen horrendous redesigns, lousy writing, character losses galore, and everything being turned into little more than an advertisement for the games. In other words we're sick of seeing Sonic being gutted and whored out. Therefore we've decided we've had enough, and consider this to be our last stand.
Don't let yourself think this is impossible or a hopeless situation. Victories have happened before. We've saved our Princess from the nightmare of Endgame, we've convinced Shout Factory to release both seasons of the original series on DVD. And if we do this, it will be the greatest victory ever.
Now is the time for preparation and action. Therefore I have compiled some advice of how to do things and maximize our chances.

What we must do is spread our word and have others understand. One way to do this is commission artists to help raise awareness of the situation. We then ask people who come out of the woodwork who feel the same way we do about this to join us. We then repeat the cycle
each time becoming stronger each time. We keep this up until the web is flooded with our disdain, all to the way to the point of getting the attention of TSSZ.
Right now our rate of new members is 2 per day. Let's see if we can bring it up to 3 per day. More importantly we need to convince people what we are and are not about, as well as teaching people that the situation is not hopeless. Do that, and we will break the cycle of
inaction and despair.
Now there will be people out there who will oppose us. There will be those who claim we are taking this too seriously, but that's only because they are totally clueless as to what could have been. There will be people out there who will give us all sorts of nasty labels, but it doesn't matter because we know what we are. We're people who have had enough. There will be people who will try to hack us, but you cannot truly hack the imagination. There will even be people who will try to threaten or stalk us, but you cannot silence the imagination. Ultimately there will be people who think we're insane, but what truly is insane is to watch what you care about die slowly and painfully while doing absolutely
noting just to avoid any effort.
Once we demonstrate that we CAN make a difference, we will no longer be dismissed as a bunch of whiners who don't like changes, but as heroes and a source of inspiration, just as the person who I am doing this for inspired me. We then could look back at this very moment, just as when we first discovered Sonic's true potential, and tell everyone that this is when we made history.
In summary, I believe there is a phrase for situations like this. "Let's do it to it."
while I enjoy your enthusiasm, I do not think any petition/group/kickstarter whatever will "save" the old continuity. Let's wait and see where this new path leads before outright dismissing it.
I don't know, I have grave Doubts about Flynn's writing. I mean yeah the mandates do suck but I think he's using that as an excuse to go a little too far.
I'm going to give him one last chance, but if he messes this up...
(So far I get the feeling that this is going someting like Sonic X 2.0).

The reason the comic changed so drastically is largely due to that legal clusterfuck involving Penders (though trust me, Ian is doing his damndest to hang on to what comic history and elements he can). I'm sorry, but there's no way to undo this.
Maybe once they realize people are turning away they will come back.
You know, the future is not set in stone.

...didn't I just say that this is more-or-less completely beyond Archie's control? As in, it doesn't matter how the reader base reacts--there is nothing ANYONE can do about the current situation, unfortunately.
Here is something else I want to point out.

As it turns out NEITHER of us had all the facts and we were fighting in vein.

I can't say for certain, but I think I might be able to increase the number of members.
There are many Archie Sonic groups on this website, and there may be some members in those groups who feel the same way about the conditions of the comics.
I am a member of some of these groups, so therefore, I can help bring this group to their attention.
Think about it this way. What if this happened to something YOU enjoy?
The big thing people don't seem to understand about us is NOT that we don't like things changing. It's that these changes in particular greatly suck.
And who is to say that things won't change again but in the right direction? You know, BATMAN went through the same thing. In its origins Batman was dark, gritty, and serious. But then it went through a campy phase, and nobody thought it would be good again. But then Frank Miller came along, and then Tim Burton, and the animated series. Sure, Joel Shoemocker nearly send everything back to the silly, campy ways but thankfully the legendary Christopher Nolan came along, which leaves us where we are today.
THAT is what this is all about. THAT is what we stand for. THAT is what we are trying to do. And I feel THAT is way too much to let go without a fight, and brother I do mean a BIG fight.

Thing is, it has happened to many things I enjoy. But I realize the difference between owning something and not. I don't own Sonic, therefore I have no right to really argue the choices the owners make about "their" property.
It would be like me telling you how to dress or what to believe in.
Do you see why I'm struggling with the purpose of this club?
Sonic the Hedgehog is *not* publically owned. He is a trademarked character, and so he along with all the other characters are going to change based on the corporate decisions of SEGA.
Yes, it is their company and they can do whatever they want, but on the flip-side actions have consequences. This whole short-sighted fast-buck approach may seem good on paper, but it never works out in the long run, especially if it pisses many people off. Why else has Electronic Arts been declared the worst corporation in America for two consecutive years.
They're probably thinking "who cares if people hate us, as long as we keep making money". How much longer do you think they can keep THAT up? This isn't capitalism, this is corruption. And if any company does this long enough, sooner or later they will end up paying some sort of price, and that price will be HUGE! And the worst part is they will try to make everyone else pay the consequences because they don't know how responsibility works.

Actually you are confusing capitalism and ethics. Companies have been doing this for decades!! It's a cruel wake up call, but it *is* about money. If you don't like it, don't buy the product.
What they are doing is not illegal. Nor does it break any sort of human rights. Therefore the argument and fear is unfounded on any rational logic.
Rather everything you have presented has been opinion not actual facts. Now if SEGA was like Nike or GAP running sweatshops and not paying their employees fairly, then this club would have a purpose for campaigning.
Yet, nothing of this sort has come up. :/.
It's not nearly as bad as Enron or BP, but it is the same type of thinking. And I'm not confusing capitalism with ethics, I'm criticizing capitalism when it LACKS ethics.
And some of the things actually ARE facts, such as EA such as EA being rated the worst corporation in America for two consecutive years.

And yes, I may have opinions, but instead of begging for people to respect them, I explain them so that they can stand on their own merit. I seek to EARN respect.
And no, what they are doing is not illegal, but that doesn't make it right either. I they keep pulling that "it's our company we can do whatever" fallacy over and over, think about how that is going to make them look. Capcom has been doing the same thing for years and just look at their reputation.

Let's have a reality check here. Reading the articles you cited regarding EA's performance as a gaming company there is as glaring problem in that both Huffington Post AND Forbes do NOT believe that EA's rank as "worst company" is credible.. I'd like to highlight this:
"Unlike the Internet, video games are a luxury good, not a basic necessity of modern life. No one ever lost his house over a bad decision Electronic Arts made. No one's life has been endangered by always-online DRM." - Huffington Post"
On the Consumerist's EA ranking:
"Fair enough, but the selection of EA over the other companies in the brackish biz bracket hints at some fundamentally skewed priorities. True, the "SimCity" flap was recent, and there have been other incidents that might explain why voters revile EA. But maybe Consumerist readers haven't been paying close enough attention to the news." - Huffington Post
"Is it deserved? No. If we’re being honest, it’s not. There are dozens of companies that are technically, legitimately, actually worse than EA in terms of how much harm they directly cause people, and many of them are on this list. Rather, Consumerist’s poll doesn’t gauge this. Instead, it’s a measure of how annoyed the internet is with a certain brand at the moment." - Forbes
It is obvious that the Consumerist ranking really does not hold any weight in the grand scheme of corporate morality. As I cited before, Nike, Wal-Mart, GAP, and the Banks have done far more to harm people and breach human rights than a company that makes video games!!!
Put morality and ethics where it belongs! SEGA and Archie Comics are companies, and yes they CAN do what they want to do with their product as long as they are not harming people or breaking the law! If you don't like it, don't spend your money on it... it's really rather simple. Companies follow the money, and if you want to change Archie comics and the Sonic comic, do so by not purchasing the comic, and by writing the publisher to explain why you will no longer be buying their comic.
Then, just work on writing a comic or stories that you DO like. No one is stopping us from doing that.
